Method, practice, and harder questions

Applications: Rates & Optimisation

Three tools: differentiate position for velocity and acceleration, set a derivative to zero (and check with the second derivative) for a maximum or minimum, and use \(\delta y \approx \frac{dy}{dx}\,\delta x\) to estimate a small change. The ideas are explained on the previous page. Twenty foundational questions and ten harder ones cover every type that turns up in exams.

That completes the Differentiation unit.Rules, second derivatives, and their applications, from the idea through to exam-style problems.
