Gradients From Graphs

Reading gradients directly off a graph, applying the product and chain rules at a point using only graphed values, and sketching the derivative function from a function or the function from its derivative. No rules are given: the graph is the only information. Ideas on the previous page.

EXAM HACKWhen a question gives only a graph, every value you need is a coordinate or a gradient read from it. Write down each one you read before combining them, and state which rule you are applying. Estimating a gradient from a straight-line section is exact; from a curve it is approximate, and saying so is expected.

That completes the Differentiation topic.Next in the course: integration.
